COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS
Coach Mack's Corner
The Mack Family Foundation partners with local inner-city
elementary schools in Greater Louisville to install state-of-the-art reading
rooms. The Foundation renovates unused classroom or space within the school and
turns in into a reading oasis, complete with extensive shelving,
comfortable seating, exciting University of Louisville basketball-themed wall
graphics, subscriptions to children’s
magazines and more than 600 age-appropriate books at the students’ disposal. This space
interests far more than an ordinary library in hopes to foster a love of
reading.To view photos, click here.
Mack Back to School
The Back to School Program is held with the purpose of ensuring elementary school students living in financially disadvantaged homes have the items they need to go back to school - ultimately providing the students more self-confidence and a desire to go to school.
Coach Mack's Food For Thought
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
is a food security program created to
directly impact inner-city elementary students in Louisville. Throughout each
year, the Food for Thought program plans to distribute 45,000 meals to students
in need through food pantries located in schools and a meal distribution day to
provide ample food over summer break when students are most food insecure.
Mack Game Day Program
During the basketball season, Coach Mack invites a group of local inner-city youth to come to a U of L basketball game at KFC Yum! Center to receive VIP behind-the-scenes treatment. 19 children plus a chaperone come early for the game, receive basketballs signed by Coach and get to head to the arena’s press room. There, Coach and Christi will meet the kids and chaperones, take photos and mingle before the game. After the meet and greet, the kids and chaperones get to enjoy the game from best-in-house seats. The Mack Family Foundation works with important organizations in the community, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, JCPS schools, and others to invite the kids to the games.
