Coach Chris Mack Hosts First 2021-22 "Game Day" Program Pre-KSU

Monday, November 1, 2021

Coach Chis Mack joined by "Game Day" students pre-KSU Exhibition Game

October 29, 2021, Louisville, KY -
Just before UofL’s first game day of the 2021-22 season – an exhibition match against Kentucky State -- men’s head basketball coach Chris Mack hosted his own first “Game Day” event of 2021-22 season for local students. The second in a series of four "Game Days" was a week later, prior to the West Georgia exhibition game. Partnering again with Louisville schools and launched in 2019 just prior to Covid-19 lockdowns, the program is relatively new.

An extension of a considerable existing commitment to inner-city schools by the Mack Family Foundation, "Game Days" are a response to financial constraints that had eliminated non-athletic incentive programs in several Title I elementary schools throughout Louisville.  Mack stepped-in with the concept after having heard that rewards were cut for students demonstrating crucial achievement traits such as:

- good attendance
- sportsmanship
- positive behavior
- academic achievement

"These traits are critically important to have, and these kids deserve to be recognized," said Mack.  This season will be the first full-program implementation.
