CINCINNATI (MAY 11th, 2019) – University of
Louisville head basketball coach Chris Mack and wife Christi returned to
Cincinnati on Friday, May 10th as part of a Mack Family Foundation outreach
initiative that oversaw a restock all five of his Coach Mack’s Corners. The
restock tour saw the Macks spend their morning and early afternoon at the five Tri
State-based elementary schools that received their foundation’s signature
reading rooms in 2017 and 2018.
|
In addition to donating another 150 books to each Corner,
the Macks also stressed the importance of literacy in achieving long-term
education goals. The book donation comes just in time for the students’ summer
break, allowing them to practice their reading over the summer months.
|
The program began at Pleasant Hill Academy in North College
Hill. From there, the Macks visited North College Hill Elementary, Rockdale
Academy Elementary, and Ethel M. Taylor Elementary, before rounding out the day
at Mary A. Goetz Elementary in Ludlow, KY.

Coach Mack’s Corners are state-of-the-art reading oases
installed within Title I schools in traditionally inner-city communities. These
Corners display exciting sports-themed wall graphics, feature beanbag chairs
and other comfortable seating and house several hundred age-appropriate books. Thanks
to Friday’s restock, each of these Corners now offer students more than 750
brand-new books. These books appeal to all ages, interests, and reading
capabilities.
