Xavier University Musketeers’ Men’s Basketball Head Coach Chris Mack and his
wife, Christi, launched their Foundation’s second “Coach Mack’s Corner”
community outreach program at Rockdale Elementary Academy on Tuesday, August
29, 2017. The reading oasis at Rockdale Academy Elementary is the second
unveiling by The Mack Family Foundation. The new bookshelves were stocked with
850 age-appropriate books provided by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and the
foundation provided a Coach Mack themed space with comfortable, inviting
setting to enjoy reading the books.
The
entire Mack Family, Christi, his wife and daughters Lainee and Hailee all participated
in the morning launch. Upon their
arrival, the students at Rockdale Academy Elementary greeted them with an
enthusiastic high five line. The
ceremony was held in the newly decked out space and students participated in a
Q&A with Coach Mack and his family.
“Education
is the key to the future for these students.” Mack shared with students.
The
importance of practicing has been a constant in my life and is a part of what I
want to share with students. We want to
provide a space where students want to practice reading.”
Chris and Christi Mack and daughters Lainee and Hailey, Rockdale Elementary Principal Belinda Tubbs Wallace and students, as well as Chelsea Courtney of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt performed a ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially unveling Coach Mack's Corner at Rockdale Academy Elementary.
